High school prepares students for math competitions

Werner seitz tries to inspire schoolchildren to take part in mathematics competitions. "In times of G 8, however, it has become more difficult to recruit participants", says seitz. That's why frobenius gymnasium is now starting as early as possible: in the new school year 2013/14, 5b will be a specialized "math plus" class-class composed.

"It is not meant to be an elite class", seitz explains: "we don't want any straight A students." Rather, children are asked to take the spab at the have a knob and like to solve mathematical problems. Seitz, a mathematics supervisor, has taken the arts as a model for his concept. For example, there are schools with theater and music classes in which choral singing or acting are particularly required.

Dogs do not criticize

They are called merle, filou or nugget, they are friendly, stress-resistant and they are good with children: so they have the best prerequisites to take away the fear of reading aloud from elementary school children in the bamberg region in the future. For three days, ten dog owners and their four-legged friends were trained by the johanniter in upper franconia to become reading dog teams – in theory and in practice.
"You go into the reading room with the child and give your dog a few minutes to explore the room and get to know the child a bit, then find a nice spot with the child and call your dog in": helmut winter, who is responsible for training the reading dog teams at the johannitern, gives tips for the reading meetings and looks at how the dog and dog owner handle the situation. Ultimately, the aim is to create a relaxed and calm atmosphere in which the children can concentrate fully on the dog and reading aloud to it.
The animals accept the children as they are, without being prejudiced, and even shy or fearful children find it easier to make contact with animals – this is what animal-assisted intervention makes use of in various areas, and this is also the basis for the success of the reading dogs: the dog simply listens patiently, does not criticize any mistakes and does not laugh at anyone. In this protected environment, the children can improve their reading skills and lose their fear of reading aloud.
"In central franconia, the johanniter have been using reading dogs for a long time, and we are pleased that this is now happening in bamberg as well", explains project manager tobias eckardt. "From now on, elementary schools from the region are welcome to contact us if they are interested. The reading dog teams then visit 'their' pupils at school every week: there, the children read to the reading dog for 20 minutes at a time."

Tasks clearly outlined

Anja gerber, who will be there with her dog merle, is already looking forward to the first game: "i would like to do something for the children. Finally, I would also be happy if my daughter got such support if necessary. Besides, i think it's good to do something with my dog, and merle is learning something, too." The task of the dog handlers, such as anja gerber, is also clearly defined in the reading sessions: the interaction takes place between the reading dog and the child, the dog owners remain in the background, only giving small help with the reading and praising the children when they have read their story aloud.
During the practical training with merle and her reading dog colleagues, everything runs smoothly: sometimes a little slower, sometimes a little faster, children and dogs find their way to each other – one reads, the other patiently listens. "Over time, the children develop a personal relationship with their reading dog and become more and more open to it. That's why it's important that the same dog always visits 'his' child and that the chemistry between the dog team and the child is right", tells helmut winter. If it doesn't work out, a new team will be looked for. But he has no worries about the freshly qualified upper franconian reading dogs: "the dogs are all very suitable, i'm almost a bit jealous that they are active in upper and not in central franconia".

Only one candidate is running in pettstadt

Only one candidate is running in pettstadt

The only really exciting thing about the pettstadt mayoral election is a percentage: how many percent will send jochen hack into his second term as head of the municipality. This could be interesting, since the man from the free electoral association (G) had won 53.27 percent in 2014 with two opposing candidates. Hack does not have an opponent now.

Pettstadt elects two more town councils this time than in 2014 due to more residents. During the last legislative period, there were four groups in the 14-member municipal council: CSU, SPD, G and BNL. These are the ones who are running again. For this body, voters have a choice of 101 candidates, with not all lists making full use of their possibilities – 28 candidates.

World fubballer inspires the kids

When will he finally arrive, the numerous children asked themselves, just like the many spectators who attended the soccer training of the FC herzogenaurach E-youth team?. Lothar matthaus had signed up to visit his hometown club and drove up at 5 p.M. On the dot. After slipping into his training outfit, he answered the first questions from the waiting journalists. Rather reluctantly, because he actually wanted to take the young soccer players out onto the artificial pitch before talking to the press. Matthaus made it clear right away: "I’m happy to help out in the youth area here. This is my hometown club."
In the past few years, it was difficult to put this affair of the heart into practice, as the 1990 world champion had too many other appointments and tasks on his plate. Currently, however, matthaus has more free time and is taking it. "I’m in herzogenaurach every six to eight weeks anyway and visit my parents. That’s why I like to come to the FCH, because that’s the place where I scored my first goals. Back there is my old school", says the 56-year-old, who lived in his hometown until he was a senior: he started playing soccer for the pumas when he was nine and came out at 18, when he was signed by borussia monchengladbach.

Old departures as fence toasts

He wanted to pass on a bit of what helped him to his world career to the up-and-coming kickers during training. "I want to give the kids motivation, because without motivation you can’t do it", said matthaus, who also discovered old departures on the sidelines such as manfred bierlein ("you’re still around, too"), with whom he once played together in the bavarian league for FC herzogenaurach.
After the obligatory team photo and the speech of the guest coach, the ball was rolling. Everyone could get an idea of what kind of bite the ex-world champion must have had in the past. That lothar matthaus lives fubball became clear in every sentence. "If you’re just going for a walk here, then you’ve got to stay home", the trained interior decorator admonished one of the young players and gave him an encouraging pat on the back before turning to the goalkeeper: "we’re going to do the drill just like i said we would."

From fatburner to zumba

From fatburner to zumba

Off the couch and into the sneakers it was last saturday for the 65 participants of the aerobic event at the caspar-vischer-gymnasium (CVG).
The P-seminar sport under the direction of kathrin krebs had invited to a rough workout day in the gyms of the CVG and the pestalozzi school, a great opportunity to get to know new trend sports in particular. The registered participants were able to choose from twelve courses of one hour each – a total of four hours of power sports.
Well, if you had chosen your courses cleverly, some of the participants might still have felt an over-acidification of the muscles the next day. "Of course, four hours of intensive sports is a lot, but we trust that everyone knows his or her own body and will stop when it’s no longer possible", said sports teacher kathrin krebs.

Fitness studios participated

The 13 students of the P-seminar were divided into three groups: organization, sponsors and aerobics. The latter was responsible for selecting the workshops and contacting the participating fitness studios. "We studied the internet offers of the different studios and made a preselection", explained tina schlee from Q12. It was important to include sports that were not yet so well known. "But we didn’t just decide on paper, we took part in the lessons ourselves so that we could better assess the content." The result was a colorful offering that ranged from fascia training to fat burner, thai yoga or crossfit to zumba or pilates.

Sangergroup seeks new board of directors

The chairman of the sangergruppe regnitz- ebrachgrund kilian prell had invited to the annual general meeting in hirschaid in the old school. 16 clubs with choirs and instrumental groups are affiliated with the sangergruppe.
The present associations of the sangergruppe reported on their accomplished and again planned meetings and informed about their dates with singing appearances. The general tenor was that all concerts were successful and well attended.
The choir director of the sangergruppe madlen hiller was pleased with the good response at the concert of the sangergruppe on 10. Marz on the occasion of "900 years of buttenheim market". It was an impressive musical experience for all ten participating choruses. At the same time, she called for a group concert with instrumental accompaniment in 2019.
The previous first chairman of the sangergruppe kilian prell had already announced two years ago to remain only this one term in office. Because of the lack of candidates for the office of the first and second chairman and also because of the poor attendance at the meeting, these items could not be carried out.

Draw threatens

The new elections are adjourned to the 17. November 2018 in the old school in hirschaid. If again no new board is formed, the sangergruppe regnitz-ebrachgrund can be closed down after almost 60 years of existence. 1959) by a majority vote of the members of the sangergruppe (see articles of association, §7 "dissolution of the sangergruppe"). The current board of directors will remain in place until the aforementioned date.

Hundreds of asylum seekers reach the district of kronach

Hundreds of asylum seekers reach the district of kronach

Much is initially gray theory. The bavarian cabinet is turning the winter emergency plan for refugees into a general emergency plan. The counties start looking for accommodation to take in 200 to 300 people at a time for the short term. But hardly anyone realizes the scale of the issue as the year progresses. This will change in august at the latest.

Hall becomes an emergency shelter

"After consultation with the district office of kronach, it is planned to use the gymnasium from the 10th of the year. August to occupy. The district office has reported a maximum capacity of 150 places in the hall", the government of upper franconia informs at the end of july on our inquiry. The first buses with asylum seekers arrive at the school center in kronach a short time later. 20 children received their first communion

A momentous day in the lives of 20 girls and boys was sunday’s first communion.
Accompanied by their parents, siblings, godparents and relatives, the communion children marched from the elementary school to the catholic parish church in altenkunstadt to the sound of the altenkunstadt musicians. The lovingly decorated house of worship was filled with the opening song "let our lives be a celebration" .
A rough tree in the sanctuary drew the eye, with each leaf on the branches bearing the name of one of the communicants. "Jesus, our tree of life was to be read and put this event also during the festive service into the center of attention.
Father boniface wished all the boys and girls that the communion children may continue to grow in their experiences, faith and love on this tree of life called jesus.
